According to a document entitled “Terrorism Awareness and Prevention: Participant Guide” distributed by the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security & Preparedness (which you can see embedded below), almost every single action should be treated as suspicious.
These include glances, wide open eyes, cold penetrating stares, trance-like gazes, exaggerated yawning when engaged in conversation, protruding or beating neck arteries, repetitive touching of face, tugging on or covering ears, increased breathing rate, panting, excessive fidgeting, clock watching, head turning, pacing or jumpiness, trembling, unusual perspiration, goose bumps, and/or rigid posture with minimal body movements and arms close to sides.
In other words, if you’re late for something or in a rush (“excessive fidgeting, clock watching”), you might be a terrorist. If you’ve been exercising (“increased breathing rate, panting,” “protruding or beating neck arteries”), you might be a terrorist.
On the other hand, if you’re tired (“trance-like gaze,” “exaggerated yawning”) you also might be a terrorist. Yet, if you’re energetic or perhaps drank too much coffee (“wide open ‘flashbulb eyes,’” “pacing or jumpy,” “trembling,” “unusual perspiration,” “excessive fidgeting”), you might also be a terrorist.
You’d better not be too energetic, too tired, in a rush, plagued by a wide range of medical conditions, returning from exercise, or generally display almost any bodily behaviors as someone might consider you a suspicious person and report you for possible terrorist activity.

What is being discussed in this article is “probable cause”. “Law enforcement” officers these days are not known for their imposing intellect. They need clear guidance to follow in their activities. Guides like the one published by Homeland Security are intended to provide with clues to look for when assessing behavior of suspect individuals. And to provide them with cover when challenged about abuse of authority. After all, the suspect displayed a number of characteristic signs as laid out in the guide book, so that means there was probable cause.

A recent review published in the journal Nicotine & Tobacco Research summarized this disturbing fact of history as follows:
…[T]he industry was not only cognizant of the potential ‘cancerous growth’ in the lungs of regular smokers but also did quantitative radiobiological calculations to estimate the long-term (25 years) lung radiation absorption dose (rad) of ionizing alpha particles emitted from the cigarette smoke. Our own calculations of lung rad of alpha particles match closely the rad estimated by the industry. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the industry’s and our estimate of long-term lung rad of alpha particles causes 120-138 lung cancer deaths per year per 1,000 regular smokers.
These findings indicate that the tobacco industry’s relationship to their consumer base was (and still is) homicidal, in the worst, premeditated sense of the word. Moreover, the industry actually knew how to mitigate the problem, but realized it would interfere with the addictive power of their product (and therefore profitability) to do so:
Acid wash was discovered in 1980 to be highly effectively in removing (210)Po from the tobacco leaves; however, the industry avoided its use for concerns that acid media would ionize nicotine converting it into a poorly absorbable form into the brain of smokers thus depriving them of the much sought after instant ‘nicotine kick’ sensation.
Polonium 210 is extraordinarily toxic when ingested or inhaled. In fact, it is 4,500 times more toxic than radium 226 — a startling fact considering that during the Manhattan Project (1944), the “tolerance dose” for workers was set at 0.1 microgram of ingested radium.
When incorporated into the body, radioisotopes like Polonium 210 emit alpha particles, which are the radiobiological equivalent of howitzers on a cellular level, profoundly damaging, mutating and destroying DNA, as well as causing other forms of irreparable damage to the cell. Because of the fact that the dominant radiation risk model does not acknowledge the profoundly detrimental effects of low-dose, internalized radioisotope exposure (largely because it was developed before the discovery of DNA in the early ’50s, and was based on external exposures to the type of gamma-radiation associated with atomic bomb blast), the true dangers associated with Polonium 210 have been largely concealed or discounted.

Ok, so if you are a smoker, it turns out you are exposing yourself to more than 36 times the level of ionizing radiation that workers at nuclear power plants, nuclear weapons facilities and crews of nuclear naval vessels might be expected to receive. And this information has been known since the late 50’s, well documented since the 60’s and was available to the public since the 80’s.

In the U.S. study titled: ‘An Unexpected Mortality Increase in the United States Follows Arrival of the Radioactive Plume from Fukushima: Is There a Correlation?’ a period of 28 weeks of mortality rates were examined- 14 before and 14 after the disaster.
What authors Joseph Mangano and Janette Sherman discovered was that:
“Deaths rose 4.46 percent from 2010 to 2011 in the 14 weeks after the arrival of Japanese fallout, compared with a 2.34 percent increase in the prior 14 weeks. The number of infant deaths after Fukushima rose 1.80 percent, compared with a previous 8.37 percent decrease. Projecting these figures for the entire United States yields 13,983 total deaths and 822 infant deaths in excess of the expected. These preliminary data need to be followed up, especially in the light of similar preliminary U.S. mortality findings for the four months after Chernobyl fallout arrived in 1986, which approximated final figures.”
Is it fair to compare Chernobyl with Fukushima? And if so, can we extrapolate from that comparison an idea how much worse the latter is with the former?

The phrase ‘source term’ indicates any source emanating uncontrolled radiation. In the case of the Fukushima Daiichi facility, the NRC FOIA documents reveal that authorities were considering a possible six source terms for their modeling: the #1 through #4 reactors and the two spent fuel pools of Units #3 and #4.
Compounding the problem, the controversial plutonium-containing ‘MOX’ fuel was being used at Fukushima. How dangerous is MOX fuel?
Consider this quote from author Praful Bidwai’s article ‘Warning Signals’ found in a March 2011 issue of India’s ‘Frontline’ magazine:
“…Reactor 3 uses mixed uranium-plutonium oxide (MOX) fuel in the core. According to Edwin Lyman of the UCS [Union of Concerned Scientists], ‘the use of MOX generally increases the consequences of severe accidents in which large amounts of radioactive gas and aerosol are released compared to the same accident in a reactor using non-MOX fuel….Because of this, the number of latent cancer fatalities resulting from an accident could increase by as much as a factor of five for a full core of MOX fuel compared to the same accident with no MOX.’ ”
Thanks to high-resolution photos available on the website pinktentacle.com, even the casual observer can see that the #3 reactor has sustained the greatest damage.
Furthermore, according to Amina Khan’s Los Angeles Times interview of Robert Alvarez, a former senior policy adviser for the U.S. Energy Department, the #3 reactor may have experienced something other than a hydrogen explosion:
“’They were irradiating Plutonium in Unit 3, which experienced the biggest explosion,’ he said. In fact, the explosion was so massive that investigators found fuel rod fragments a mile away, leading to speculation that a supercritical fission event may have also occurred, Alvarez said.”
All of this is bad news, but if the meltdowns had taken place at a nuclear plant in Australia, the effects of fallout on the U.S. would have been greatly reduced based simply on the actual physical distance between the two points and the location of the world’s jet streams.
The unfortunate reality is that the United States is in direct line with a powerful jet stream that flows from Japan, over Hawaii and to the West Coast.

Most recently he has been showing us his prototype of an external combustion rotary engine concept. Some of the machining he requires to complete this prototype has forced him to design and build his own custom CNC machine.
Tonight we hope to get a look at how the work on his CNC machine is progressing.
As I write this, Tommey has not confirmed his scheduled appearance on the show. I hope he has it on his calendar and shows up as planned. If not, I may have to get out my dancing shoes to entertain the audience.

Tommey has become quite frustrated with the both the cost and quality of workmanship experienced in his attempts to have custom components fabricated for his rotary engine prototype. Obama Admin Will Seek “International Permission” To Attack Syria, Will “Inform” Congress of Plan

US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta went on the record yesterday with the Obama admins plan to seek international permission for an attack on Syria.
That’s right, rather than get the legal Congressional approval needed for an attack on another country, Panetta has openly admitted that he plans to bypass Congress as long as the international community agrees.
During the hearing Panetta was asked a question by a sitting Congressman whether or not he plans to get permission from Congress.
Senator Jeff Sessions:“We spend our time worrying about the U.N., the Arab League, NATO and too little time, in my opinion, worrying about the elected representatives of the United States. As you go forward, will you consult with the United States Congress?”
Panetta: “You know, our goal would be to seek international permission. And we would come to the Congress and inform you and determine how best to approach this, whether or not we would want to get permission from the Congress.”
This is an open admission that the US government now openly works for and answers to the international community.

Can the president kill an American simply because the person is dangerous and his arrest would be impractical? Can the president be judge, jury, and executioner of an American in a foreign country because he believes that would keep America safe? Can Congress authorize the president to do this?
Earlier this week, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder attempted to justify presidential killing in a speech at Northwestern University law school. In it, he recognized the requirement of the Fifth Amendment for due process. He argued that the president may substitute the traditionally understood due process — a public jury trial — with the president’s own novel version of it; that would be a secret deliberation about killing. Without mentioning the name of the American the president recently ordered killed, Holder suggested that the president’s careful consideration of the case of New Mexico–born Anwar al-Awlaki constituted a substituted form of due process.
Holder argued that the act of reviewing al-Awlaki’s alleged crimes, what he was doing in Yemen, and the imminent danger he posed provided al-Awlaki with a substitute form of due process. He did not mention how this substitution applied to al-Awlaki’s 16-year-old son and a family friend, who were also executed by CIA drones. And he did not address the utter absence of any support in the Constitution or Supreme Court case law for his novel theory.

This video is here to demonstrate that the TSA’s insistence that the nude body scanner program is effective and necessary is nothing but a fraud, just like their claims that the program is safe (radiation what?) and non-invasive (nude pictures who?). The scanners are now effectively worthless, as anyone can beat them with virtually no effort. The TSA has been provided this video in advance of it being made public to give them an opportunity to turn off the scanners and revert to the metal detectors. I personally believe they now have no choice but to turn them off.

We were speechless when we read this from Bloomberg.
The Bank of Israel will begin today a pilot program to invest a portion of its foreign currency reserves in U.S. equities.
The investment, which in the initial phase will amount to 2 percent of the $77 billion reserves, or about $1.5 billion, will be made through UBS AG and BlackRock Inc. (BLK), Bank of Israel spokesman Yossi Saadon said in a telephone interview today. At a later stage, the investment is expected to increase to 10 percent of the reserves.
A small number of central banks have started investing part of their reserves in equities. About 9 percent of the foreign- exchange reserves of Switzerland’s central bank were invested in shares at the end of the third quarter, the Swiss bank said on its website.
The investment will be made in equity index trackers and will include between 1,500 to 2,000 shares, among them stocks like Apple Inc. (AAPL), Saadon said.
In other words, while the Fed’s charter forbids it from buying US equities outright, it certainly can promise that it will bail out such bosom friends as the Bank of Israel, the Swiss National Bank, and soon everyone else, if and when their investment in Apple should sour.
Luckily, this means that the exponential phase in risk is approaching as everyone will now scramble to frontrun central bank purchases no longer in bonds, but in stocks outright, leading to epic surges in everything risk related, then collapse and force the Fed to print tens of trillions to bail everyone out all over again, rinse repeat, until this chart becomes asymptotic. We say luckily, because it means that the long overdue systemic reset is finally approaching.
Constitutional showdown voided: Feds decrypt laptop without defendant’s help

Colorado federal authorities have decrypted a laptop seized from a bank-fraud defendant, mooting a judge’s order that the defendant unlock the hard drive so the government could use its contents as evidence against her.
The development ends a contentious legal showdown over whether forcing a defendant to decrypt a laptop is a breach of the Fifth Amendment right against compelled self incrimination.
The authorities seized the encrypted Toshiba laptop from defendant Ramona Fricosu in 2010 with valid court warrants while investigating alleged mortgage fraud, and demanded she decrypt it. Colorado U.S. District Judge Robert Blackburn ordered the woman in January to decrypt the laptop by the end of February. The judge refused to stay his decision to allow Fricosu time to appeal.
“They must have used or found successful one of the passwords the co-defendant provided them,” Fricosu’s attorney, Philip Dubois, said in a telephone interview Wednesday.
He said the authorities delivered to him Wednesday a copy of the information they discovered on the drive. Dubois said he has not examined it.
The development comes a week after a federal appeals court ruled in a separate case that forcing a criminal suspect to decrypt hard drives so their contents can be used by prosecutors is a breach of the Fifth Amendment right against compelled self-incrimination.
It was the nation’s first appellate court to issue such a finding. The Supreme Court has never dealt directly with the issue.
The decision by the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said that an encrypted hard drive is akin to a combination on a safe, and is off limits, because compelling the unlocking of either of them is the equivalent of forcing testimony.
Judge Blackburn, however, was not legally bound to follow that precedent, because he sits in the circuit covered by the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, which had refused to review his decision.
The woman and her ex-husband co-defendant, Scott Whatcott, are accused of filing fraudulent documents to obtain home titles and selling the houses without paying the mortgage. Dubois believes Whatcott supplied the password to the police.
Dubois had suggested in an earlier interview that Fricosu may have forgotten the password, and faced potential contempt charges had she not decrypted the hard drive by Wednesday.
Facebook will Require Social Security Number for Member Log In
February seemed to be the month of Facebook, with new updates and new privacy settings. Today, Facebook announced a new procedure to address the recent wave of spam that has plagued the website. Starting April 2nd, users will be required to enter their social security numbers to log in to their Facebook accounts. Facebook’s media relations department released this statement.
The new member log in format will be both safe and efficient for our users who fear having their Facebook identity stolen. The requirement for users to enter their social security numbers during log in, will completely take away the element of spam from unauthorized access. With cooperation from the United States government, we have compiled a database to verify that each person’s social security is accurate. Also, the last four digits of each users social will be displayed in their info section of their profile. Further upgrades to security are currently being planned, and will be announced as more information is given.
The announcement will for sure create outrage across the internet, where tensions are already high due to Facebook’s new privacy policies. Google has also hinted to a similar procedure to verify user identification.
Calls to the Facebook corporate offices have not been returned.

Anyone who follows this blog or watches my weekly news rant on JTV probably knows that in the upcoming election of POTUS I support a certain old geezer from Texas named Ron Paul. Just happens I think he is the best man for the job that is running and do what little I can to help him get the job.
I am on a number of mailing lists related to my support of Ron Paul and noted with some interest that the man would be doing a speaking engagement very near where I live. Assuming it would be the usual political fund raiser, I grabbed my wife and my check book and set out to attend. I was a bit concerned that the turn out might be light and wanted to make sure my wife and I were there to add ourselves to the numbers just in case anyone in the news media might be watching.
Well, turns out we could not get anywhere near the place. The parking lot for the Waterford Convention Center near where I live can easily handle 2000 cars, maybe more. The crowd that turned out to hear Ron Paul speak was nothing short of overwhelming. We could not get anywhere near the Waterford but noted a fellow holding a sign that said overflow parking was available at the Hilton. We could not get into the parking lot at the Hilton either.
The street was lined with people on foot who had hiked from Springfield Mall, maybe a mile away from the Waterford. There had to be at least 5000 people standing in line waiting to get into the convention center. As it looked like our added numbers would be but a drop in a bucket that appeared to be about to overflow, we gave up and went out to dinner instead.
Will be watching to see how this is reported on the news. There were at least 4 satellite trucks parked in back of the convention center so I know for a fact the media was there. I have not seen any of the other republican candidates draw anywhere near this number of people. Will be very interesting to see how the media spins this one!

A Minnesota State Trooper reports:
I made a routine traffic stop of an elderly lady the other day for speeding on Minnesota Hightway 210 at mile marker 197 just east of McGregor. I asked her for her driver’s license, registration and proof of insurance.
The lady took out the required information and handed it to me. In with the cards I was somewhat surprised (due to her advanced age) to see she had a concealed carry permit. I looked at her and asked if she had a weapon in her possession at this time.
She responded that she did indeed have a .45 automatic in her glove box.
Something – maybe body language or the way she said it – made me ask if she had any other firearms.
She did admit to also having a Glock 9mm in her center console.
Now I just had to ask one more time if that was all?
She responded one again that she did have a .38 special snub nose in her purse.
I then asked her WHAT SHE WAS SO AFRAID OF ???
She looked me right in the eye and replied, NOT A F***ING THING !

The Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States reads quite simply, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
Over the years, some have argued that what was meant by these simple words was that only the organized military was intended to retain arms. However, ruling after ruling has been handed down since 1803 that clearly defines the second amendment as ensuring the right of each individual to keep and bear whatever sort of arms are commonly available at the time. Further, it has been found repeatedly that this right cannot be infringed by either the state or federal government.
But over time, the provisions of the second amendment have been weakened. Most often, by a unique set of unusual circumstances during a moment in time that is used to impose some restriction on the right to keep and bear arms impacting future generations.
An example of such a thing is the restrictions related to fully automatic weapons. In practice, a fully automatic weapon is royal pain the ass the keep fed. The rate of fire supported by such weapons makes mountains of ammunition a requirement for them to be truly effective. But in a short fire fight where a lone individual is confronted by an armed group, such a weapon can make the difference.
But, during the prohibition years, fully automatic weapons were demonized as being a favorite among organized criminals. So of course a law needed to be passed to make it illegal for criminals to acquire fully automatic weapons. Thus this category of weapon, along with short barreled rifles, sawed off shot guns and devices to suppress the noise of the firearm were restricted to holders of a special federal tax stamps that was not made commonly available to the average citizen.
In their rush to remove such weapons from the market, the argument that only law abiding citizens would be impacted, was ignored even though it was put forward by many. As a rule, criminals tend to be unconcerned with laws which is why they are considered criminals. Before these restrictions were passed, private ownership of such weapons was common and not considered the least bit unusual.
Up until President Kennedy was assassinated by a lone gunman using a rifle he had purchased by “mail order”, it was common for average folks to order their firearms from ads in magazines like “Life” and “Look”. But after Kennedy’s assassination, yet another layer of restriction was put on law abiding citizens. The inter-State purchase of firearms was made illegal except when conducted by holders of a federal firearms dealer license.
Every time there is a high profile criminal act involving firearms, the calls for abolition of public firearms possession grows loud.
As an example, in April of 2003 a shooting incident at the John McDonogh High School in New Orleans brought out the gun grabbers bit time. But their argument was successfully silenced by an article published by Larry Pratt of Gun Owners of America with the simple truth, “This tragedy might have been prevented by the presence of armed teachers and other employees at the school. Last year, a Research 2000 poll found that 85% of Americans would find it appropriate for a principal or teacher to use ‘a gun at school to defend the lives of students’ to stop a school massacre. Today’s shooting offers the latest evidence that gun free zones are a misnomer. They are a criminal safe zone.”
You were given the right to keep and bear arms for many reasons. Among these is the basic human right to protect your life, the life of your loved ones and the property you have managed to acquire. But lets not forget the historical facts. The framers of the constitution had just fought a bloody war against a tyrannical government. There was justifiable concern among many, particularly those opposed to strong central government, that the new government they were bringing into existence could at some point turn against the interests of the people. Should such a situation evolve, it was considered essential that the average citizen be in a position to resist with arms if it ever became required.
So as you consider the issues of what many call “gun rights”, remember your history. You may not wish to own a firearm and that is your right. You may want to own an example of every possible firearm you can afford and that is your right. Hopefully, you will go through your entire life without ever being confronted by a situation where you are required to defend your property, your life or the life of another. But those who take the right to keep and bear arms seriously would prefer to have access to a firearm and never need it, than need access to a firearm and not have that option.
Please, regardless of your personal opinion on private firearms ownership, support the right of honest people to have the option to arm themselves as they see fit. Join and support “Gun Owners of America”. They are the only organization out there that takes a “NO COMPROMISE” position on your right keep and bear arms.

What I saw that day

When U.S.Navy sailor Phil Tourney saw Israeli planes circling the USS Liberty on June 8, 1967, he and his crew mates thought nothing of it. The Israelis waved at the crew and the Liberty crew, waved back. The USS Liberty was a unique vessel, unlike any other in the world, with a large tower and radio dishes used for eavesdropping, so the chance it could be mistaken for an “enemy” vessel were zero. The oversize U.S. flag and the large ID numbers painted on the ship also made identification of the ship possible from miles away.
Imagine the shock and horror when the Israelis attacked the lightly armed intelligence gathering vessel in broad daylight. A torpedo was fired and struck the Liberty dead on. Israeli aircraft strafed the men aboard and dropped napalm on the decks. Torpedo boats machine-gunned the crew as they tried to rescue wounded U.S. servicemen. The Israelis even shot up life rafts to prevent any escape.

Conclusions submitted in October 2003 to the Office of the U.S. Secretary of Defense by the USS Liberty Veterans Association, Inc., in demanding a congressional investigation into the aborted rescue during the attack of the USS Liberty and subsequent alleged cover-up.
The group also calls for a new Naval Court of Inquiry and that June 8 be officially recognized as USS Liberty Remembrance Day.
1. That on June 8, 1967, after eight hours of aerial surveillance, Israel launched a two-hour air and naval attack against USS Liberty, the world’s most sophisticated intelligence ship, inflicting 34 dead and 173 wounded American servicemen (a casualty rate of 70 percent, in a crew of 294);
2. That the Israeli air attack lasted approximately 25 minutes, during which time unmarked Israeli aircraft dropped napalm canisters on USS Liberty’s bridge and fired 30mm cannons and rockets into our ship, causing 821 holes, more than 100 of which were rocket-size; survivors estimate 30 or more sorties were flown over the ship by a minimum of 12 attacking Israeli planes which were jamming all five American emergency radio channels;
3. That the torpedo boat attack involved not only the firing of torpedoes, but… … the machine-gunning of Liberty’s firefighters and stretcher-bearers as they struggled to save their ship and crew; the Israeli torpedo boats later returned to machine-gun at close range three of the Liberty’s life rafts that had been lowered into the water by survivors to rescue the most seriously wounded;
4. That there is compelling evidence that Israel’s attack was a deliberate attempt to destroy an American ship and kill her entire crew; evidence of such intent is supported by statements from Secretary of State Dean Rusk, Undersecretary of State George Ball, former CIA Director Richard Helms, former NSA Directors Lt. Gen. William Odom, USA (Ret.), Adm. Bobby Ray Inman, USN (Ret.), and Marshal Carter; former NSA deputy directors Oliver Kirby and Maj. Gen. John Morrison, USAF (Ret.); and former Ambassador Dwight Porter, U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon in 1967;
5. That in attacking USS Liberty, Israel committed acts of murder against American servicemen and an act of war against the United States;
6. That fearing conflict with Israel, the White House deliberately prevented the U.S. Navy from coming to the defense of USS Liberty by recalling Sixth Fleet military rescue support while the ship was under attack; evidence of the recall of rescue aircraft is supported by statements of Capt. Joe Tully, Commanding Officer of the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga, and Rear Admiral Lawrence Geis, the Sixth Fleet carrier division commander, at the time of the attack; never before in American naval history has a rescue mission been cancelled when an American ship was under attack;
7. That although Liberty was saved from almost certain destruction through the heroic efforts of the ship’s captain, William L. McGonagle (MOH), and his brave crew, surviving crewmembers were later threatened with “court-martial, imprisonment or worse” if they exposed the truth; and were abandoned by their own government;
8. That due to the influence of Israel’s powerful supporters in the United States, the White House deliberately covered up the facts of this attack from the American people;
9. That due to continuing pressure by the pro-Israel lobby in the United States, this attack remains the only serious naval incident that has never been thoroughly investigated by Congress; to this day, no surviving crew member has been permitted to officially and publicly testify about the attack;
10. That there has been an official cover-up without precedent in American naval history; the existence of such a cover-up is now supported by statements of Rear Adm. Merlin Staring, USN (Ret.), former Judge Advocate General of the Navy; and Capt. Ward Boston, USN, (Ret.), the chief counsel to the Navy’s 1967 Court of Inquiry of Liberty attack;
11. That the truth about Israel’s attack and subsequent White House cover-up continues to be officially concealed from the American people to the present day and is a national disgrace;
12. That a danger to our national security exists whenever our elected officials are willing to subordinate American interests to those of any foreign nation, and specifically are unwilling to challenge Israel’s interests when they conflict with American interests; this policy, evidenced by the failure to defend USS Liberty and the subsequent official cover-up of the Israeli attack, endangers the safety of Americans and the security of the United States.

A test of a HEPA air filter stationed in California recorded radiation levels at 351% and 538% above normal background levels.
The tests, conducted by the Enviroreporter, show levels much higher than normal background levels that are most likely coming from the Fukushima nuclear disaster.

(CNSNews.com) – The amount of money the federal government takes out of the U.S. economy in taxes will increase by more than 30 percent between 2012 and 2014, according to the Budget and Economic Outlook published today by the CBO.
At the same time, according to CBO (Congresional Budget Office), the economy will remain sluggish, partly because of higher taxes.
“In particular, between 2012 and 2014, revenues in CBO’s baseline shoot up by more than 30 percent,” said CBO, “mostly because of the recent or scheduled expirations of tax provisions, such as those that lower income tax rates and limit the reach of the alternative minimum tax (AMT), and the imposition of new taxes, fees, and penalties that are scheduled to go into effect.”
The U.S. economy, CBO projects, will perform “below its potential” for another six years and unemployment will remain above 7 percent for another three.
“The pace of the economic recovery has been slow since the recession ended in June 2009, and the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) expects that, under current laws governing taxes and spending, the economy will continue to grow at a sluggish pace over the next two years,” said CBO. “That pace of growth partly reflects the dampening effect on economic activity from the higher tax rates and curbs on spending scheduled to occur this year and especially next. Although CBO projects that growth will pick up after 2013, the agency expects that the economy’s output will remain below its potential until 2018 and that the unemployment rate will remain above 7 percent until 2015.”
According to the CBO report, federal tax revenues equaled $2.302 trillion in fiscal 2011, and will increase to $2,523 trillion in fiscal 2012, $2,988 trillion in fiscal in 2013, and $3,313 trillion in 2014.
As a percentage of GDP, according to CBO, federal tax revenues were 15.4 percent in fiscal 2011, and will be 16.3 percent in 2012, 18.8 percent in 2013, and 20.0 percent in fiscal 2014.
In dollar terms, the anticipated increase in federal tax revenue from fiscal 2011 ($2.302 trillion) to fiscal 2014 ($3.313 trillion) is $1.011 trillion. That is an increase of 43.9 percent.
From just 2012 to 2014, the increase in federal tax revenues from $2.523 trillion to $3.313 trillion equals $790 billion—or 31.3 percent.
The anticipated percentage increase in federal tax revenue is not only large when calculated in dollar terms but also when calculated as a share of GDP. The jump from 15.4 percent of GDP in fiscal 2011 to 20.0 percent of GDP in fiscal 2014 equals an increase of 29.8 percent. The jump from 16.3 percent in fiscal 2012 to 20.0 percent in fiscal 2014 equals an increase over two years of 22.7 percent.
Federal tax revenues have averaged “about 18 percent of GDP for the past 40 years,” according to CBO. So, in the next two years federal tax revenues will rise from a level that is below the modern historical average to a level that is above it.

Despite winning the event’s annual straw poll for the last two years running, Ron Paul has seemingly been excluded from this year’s CPAC conference, with Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich announced as keynote speakers but Paul appearing nowhere on the roster.

The exclusion of Paul is likely a maneuver by GOP insiders to re-align CPAC, the biggest annual conservative confab, with the Republican establishment and prevent an embarrassing straw poll defeat for likely presidential pick Mitt Romney, who Paul beat in 2010 and 2011.
According to the CPAC website, fellow presidential candidates Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum will all address the event scheduled to take place Feb. 8-11 in Washington, but Ron Paul will be absent.
“Although a combination of factors might be at play, including Paul’s focus on the Maine caucuses, a changing of the guard at the top of CPAC’s management team is likely behind Paul’s exclusion,” notes Stephen Woodward.
Indeed, the selection of former chairman of the Florida Republican Party Al Cardenas to lead CPAC has brought with it a decidedly neoconservative flavor to the 2012 event.
Besides Romney and Gingrich, the likes of Ann Coulter, John Bolton, Sen. Mitch McConnell, Herman Cain and Rick Perry will all speak at the conference.
During a post CPAC 2011 interview, American Conservative Union (ACU) chief Cardenas put Ron Paul supporters on notice by warning them that they would not be invited to the 2012 event if they failed to act with “civility” after previous speakers Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld were booed by Paul activists.
The change in direction seemingly stems from a revolt, characterized by Politico as a “conservative civil war,” that preceded last year’s conference fueled by concerns expressed by establishment Republicans that the conference was turning “libertarian”.
Former presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, who boycotted the 2010 and 2011 conferences because of the attendance of Ron Paul and his supporters, is set to return to speak at the 2012 event.
CPAC’s move to marginalize true conservatives like Ron Paul also stems from concerns that the rival Values Voter Summit is gaining more prominence within establishment Republican circles.
Paul has won the CPAC straw poll for the past two years running and has spoke at the last three conferences.
Following his victory last year, Fox News erroneously reported that Paul had been booed by the audience when his win was announced. In reality, Fox played footage from the previous year’s event when Mitt Romney supporters had loudly booed the result and Paul supporters had been absent due to a Campaign for Liberty meeting running late.
Although Ron Paul supporters have presumably been uninvited because they booed Cheney and Rumsfeld, Romney fans who booed Paul will be in attendance at CPAC 2012, highlighting the hypocrisy behind Paul’s exclusion.

On the evening of February 15, 1898 a sudden and shocking explosion tore a hole in the hull of the American battleship Maine, which had been on patrol in Havana harbor. The immediate assumption was that the sinking of the Maine and the concomitant deaths of 260 sailors was the result of Spanish treachery. Although no conclusive results have ever been proven even to this day, the most likely cause of the explosion is that a small kitchen fire ignited the gun powder in the next compartment resulting in the loss of the battleship.
The American press, however, had no doubts about who was responsible for sinking the Maine. It was the cowardly Spanish, they cried. William Randolph Hearst’s New York Journal even published pictures. They showed how Spanish saboteurs had fastened an underwater mine to the Maine and had detonated it from shore.
A minor revolt in Cuba against the Spanish colonial government provided a colorful topic. For months now the papers had been painting in lurid detail the horrors of Cuban life under oppressive Spanish rule. The Spanish had confined many Cubans to concentration camps. The press called them “death camps.” Wild stories with screaming headlines — Spanish Cannibalism, Inhuman Torture, Amazon Warriors Fight For Rebels — flooded the newsstands. Newspapers sent hundreds of reporters, artists, and photographers south to recount Spanish atrocities. The correspondents, including such notables as author Stephen Crane and artist Frederick Remington, found little to report on when they arrived.
“There is no war,” Remington wrote to his boss. “Request to be recalled.”
Remington’s boss, William Randolph Hearst, sent a cable in reply: “Please remain. You furnish the pictures, I’ll furnish the war.” Hearst was true to his word. For weeks after the Maine disaster, the Journal devoted more than eight pages a day to the story. Not to be outdone, other papers followed Hearst’s lead. Hundreds of editorials demanded that the Maine and American honor be avenged. Many Americans agreed. Soon a rallying cry could be heard everywhere — in the papers, on the streets, and in the halls of Congress: “Remember the Maine! To hell with Spain.”

“American Planes Hit North Vietnam After Second Attack on Our Destroyers; Move Taken to Halt New Aggression”, announced a Washington Post headline on Aug. 5, 1964.
That same day, the front page of the New York Times reported: “President Johnson has ordered retaliatory action against gunboats and ‘certain supporting facilities in North Vietnam’ after renewed attacks against American destroyers in the Gulf of Tonkin.”
But there was no “second attack” by North Vietnam — no “renewed attacks against American destroyers.” By reporting official claims as absolute truths, American journalism opened the floodgates for the bloody Vietnam War.
A pattern took hold: continuous government lies passed on by pliant mass media…leading to over 50,000 American deaths and millions of Vietnamese casualties.
The official story was that North Vietnamese torpedo boats launched an “unprovoked attack” against a U.S. destroyer on “routine patrol” in the Tonkin Gulf on Aug. 2 — and that North Vietnamese PT boats followed up with a “deliberate attack” on a pair of U.S. ships two days later.
The truth was very different.
Rather than being on a routine patrol Aug. 2, the U.S. destroyer Maddox was actually engaged in aggressive intelligence-gathering maneuvers — in sync with coordinated attacks on North Vietnam by the South Vietnamese navy and the Laotian air force.
“The day before, two attacks on North Vietnam…had taken place,” writes scholar Daniel C. Hallin. Those assaults were “part of a campaign of increasing military pressure on the North that the United States had been pursuing since early 1964.”
On the night of Aug. 4, the Pentagon proclaimed that a second attack by North Vietnamese PT boats had occurred earlier that day in the Tonkin Gulf — a report cited by President Johnson as he went on national TV that evening to announce a momentous escalation in the war: air strikes against North Vietnam.
But Johnson ordered U.S. bombers to “retaliate” for a North Vietnamese torpedo attack that never happened.
Prior to the U.S. air strikes, top officials in Washington had reason to doubt that any Aug. 4 attack by North Vietnam had occurred. Cables from the U.S. task force commander in the Tonkin Gulf, Captain John J. Herrick, referred to “freak weather effects,” “almost total darkness” and an “over eager sonar man” who “was hearing ship’s own propeller beat.”
One of the Navy pilots flying overhead that night was squadron commander James Stockdale, who gained fame later as a POW and then Ross Perot’s vice presidential candidate. “I had the best seat in the house to watch that event,” recalled Stockdale a few years ago, “and our destroyers were just shooting at phantom targets — there were no PT boats there…. There was nothing there but black water and American fire power.”
In 1965, Lyndon Johnson commented: “For all I know, our Navy was shooting at whales out there.”
But Johnson’s deceitful speech of Aug. 4, 1964, won accolades from editorial writers. The president, proclaimed the New York Times, “went to the American people last night with the somber facts.” The Los Angeles Times urged Americans to “face the fact that the Communists, by their attack on American vessels in international waters, have themselves escalated the hostilities.”
Daniel Hallin’s classic book The “Uncensored War” observes that journalists had “a great deal of information available which contradicted the official account [of Tonkin Gulf events]; it simply wasn’t used. The day before the first incident, Hanoi had protested the attacks on its territory by Laotian aircraft and South Vietnamese gunboats.”
What’s more, “It was generally known…that `covert’ operations against North Vietnam, carried out by South Vietnamese forces with U.S. support and direction, had been going on for some time.”
In the absence of independent journalism, the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution — the closest thing there ever was to a declaration of war against North Vietnam — sailed through Congress on Aug. 7. (Two courageous senators, Wayne Morse of Oregon and Ernest Gruening of Alaska, provided the only “no” votes.) The resolution authorized the president “to take all necessary measures to repel any armed attack against the forces of the United States and to prevent further aggression.”
The rest is tragic history.
Nearly three decades later, during the Gulf War, columnist Sydney Schanberg warned journalists not to forget “our unquestioning chorus of agreeability when Lyndon Johnson bamboozled us with his fabrication of the Gulf of Tonkin incident.”
Schanberg blamed not only the press but also “the apparent amnesia of the wider American public.”
And he added: “We Americans are the ultimate innocents. We are forever desperate to believe that this time the government is telling us the truth.”

NEW YORK – On the fourth day of the 1967 Arab Israeli War, the intelligence ship ‘USS Liberty’ was steaming slowly in international waters, 14 miles off the Sinai Peninsula. Israeli armored forces were racing deep into Sinai in hot pursuit of the retreating Egyptian army.
‘Liberty,’ a World War II freighter, had been converted into an intelligence vessel by the top-secret US National Security Agency, and packed with the latest signals and electronic interception equipment. The ship bristled with antennas and electronic ‘ears’ including TRSSCOMM, a system that delivered real-time intercepts to Washington by bouncing a stream of microwaves off the moon.
‘Liberty’ had been rushed to Sinai to monitor communications of the belligerents in the Third Arab Israeli War: Israel and her foes, Egypt, Syria, and Jordan.
At 0800 hrs, 8 June, 1967, eight Israeli recon flights flew over ‘Liberty,’ which was flying a large American flag. At 1400 hrs, waves of low-flying Israeli Mystere and Mirage-III fighter-bombers repeatedly attacked the American vessel with rockets, napalm, and cannon. The air attacks lasted 20 minutes, concentrating on the ship’s electronic antennas and dishes. The ‘Liberty’ was left afire, listing sharply. Eight of her crew lay dead, a hundred seriously wounded, including the captain, Commander William McGonagle.
At 1424 hrs, three Israeli torpedo boats attacked, raking the burning ‘Liberty’ with 20mm and 40mm shells. At 1431hrs an Israeli torpedo hit the ‘Liberty’ midship, precisely where the signals intelligence systems were located. Twenty-five more Americans died.
Israeli gunboats circled the wounded ‘Liberty,’ firing at crewmen trying to fight the fires. At 1515, the crew were ordered to abandon ship. The Israeli warships closed and poured machine gun fire into the crowded life rafts, sinking two. As American sailors were being massacred in cold blood, a rescue mission by US Sixth Fleet carrier aircraft was mysteriously aborted on orders from the White House.
An hour after the attack, Israeli warships and planes returned. Commander McGonagle gave the order. ‘prepare to repel borders.’ But the Israelis, probably fearful of intervention by the US Sixth Fleet, departed. ‘Liberty’ was left shattered but still defiant, her flag flying.
The Israeli attacks killed 34 US seamen and wounded 171 out of a crew of 297, the worst loss of American naval personnel from hostile action since World War II.
Less than an hour after the attack, Israel told Washington its forces had committed a ‘tragic error.’ Later, Israel claimed it had mistaken ‘Liberty’ for an ancient Egyptian horse transport. US Secretary of State, Dean Rusk, and Joint Chiefs of Staff head, Admiral Thomas Moorer, insisted the Israeli attack was deliberate and designed to sink ‘Liberty.’ So did three CIA reports; one asserted Israel’s Defense Minister, Gen. Moshe Dayan, had personally ordered the attack.
Why did Israel try to sink a naval vessel of its benefactor and ally? Most likely because ‘Liberty’s’ intercepts flatly contradicted Israel’s claim, made at the war’s beginning on 5 June, that Egypt had attacked Israel, and that Israel’s massive air assault on three Arab nations was in retaliation. In fact, Israel began the war by a devastating, Pearl-Harbor style surprise attack that caught the Arabs in bed and destroyed their entire air forces.
Israel was also preparing to attack Syria to seize its strategic Golan Heights. Washington warned Israel not to invade Syria, which had remained inactive while Israel fought Egypt. Bamford says Israel’s offensive against Syria was abruptly postponed when ‘Liberty’ appeared off Sinai, then launched once it was knocked out of action. Israel’s claim that Syria had attacked it could have been disproved by ‘Liberty.’
Most significant, ‘Liberty’s’ intercepts may have shown that Israel seized upon sharply rising Arab-Israeli tensions in May-June 1967 to launch a long-planned war to invade and annex the West Bank, Jerusalem, Golan and Sinai.
Far more shocking was Washington’s response. Writes Bamford: ‘Despite the overwhelming evidence that Israel attacked the ship and killed American servicemen deliberately, the Johnson Administration and Congress covered up the entire incident.’ Why?
Domestic politics. Johnson, a man never noted for high moral values, preferred to cover up the attack rather than anger a key constituency and major financial backer of the Democratic Party. Congress was even less eager to touch this ‘third rail’ issue.
A member of President Johnson’s staff believed there was a more complex reason for the cover-up: Johnson offered Jewish liberals unconditional backing of Israel, and a cover-up of the ‘Liberty’ attack, in exchange for the liberal toning down their strident criticism of his policies in the then raging Vietnam War.
Summary:
The first casualty of war is the truth. By way of deception we shall do war. All warfare is based on deception.
When a government can control what information is available to its population, it can control perception and mold public opinion to suit an agenda the population might not otherwise support. To them, its all just a big chess game and sacrificing pawns is expected.
We were led into war with Afghanistan and Iraq by deception. Yellow cake, weapons of mass destruction, material support for the perpetrators of 9/11. All proven later to be lies or at the very least, “faulty intelligence”, by a government hell bent on war and echoed by a complicit media.
Now the same stories are being told about Iran. Weapons of mass destruction. Iran could have nukes any day. Iran’s leadership is insane. The Iranian people will welcome us with open arms and thank us for bringing them freedom!

uuuuh, no, the OTHER ENTERPRISE !!! Our oldest nuclear powered air craft carrier commissioned in 1961. A cold war veteran that is scheduled to be decommissioned in 2013. At 50 years old, the ship is nearly twice the age of most seamen serving on it. It is said that the decommissioning will be very costly as no known method is currently available for rendering the ships eight (8) nuclear reactors safe.
As old as the USS Enterprise might be, it remains a formitable weapon of war. 5,000 sailors and naval airmen man the ship which carries as many as 90 aircraft. The Iranians have nothing close to its capability.
But should war with Iran break out and it can be shown that the USA was the aggressor, Russia and China have warned that they would consider this an assault on their vital interests. As crazy as some in our government might be, they know they are not presently in a position to take on both Russia and China, and be assured of a win.

A musical instrument produces both fundamental and harmonic frequencies, which allows the human ear to discern the differences between instruments even if they are playing the same note.

Properties of lossless networks.For a network to be lossless, all of the power (or energy) that is incident at any one port has to be accounted for by summing the power output at the other ports with the power reflected at the incident port. None of the power is converted to heat or radiated within a lossless network. Note that an active device is not in the same category as a lossless part, since power is added to the network through its bias connections.
Within the S-parameter matrix of a lossless network, the sum of the squares of the magnitudes of any row must total unity (unity is a fancy way of saying “one”). If any of the rows’ sum-of-the-squares is less than one, there is a lossy element within the network, or something is radiating.
Why are we looking at sum of the squares instead of sum of the elements themselves? Because the S matrix is express in terms of voltage, and as we said, we are accounting for power. Power is proportional to voltage squared[/i], get it?
Guess what? You can never make a lossless network. But you can come extremely close
In this point one might raise doubt that I have omitted amplification factor and a comparison S21 to S12 is not reflecting and/or correlating with factional experiment.

Energy dissipation
Only fundamental frequency current can provide real power. Current delivered at harmonic frequencies doesn’t deliver any real power to the load. When current of a single frequency is present in a system, you can use the measured values in Ohm’s Law and power calculations
However, when currents of more than one frequency are present, direct addition of the current values leads to a summed value that doesn’t correctly represent the total effect of the multiple currents. Instead, you need to add the currents in a manner known as the “root mean square” summation.
